Nearly 30 WHS DECA members from the marketing program joined over 1,000 students from 13 other Midwest states at the 50th annual DECA Central Region Leadership Conference Friday-Sunday in Omaha, Neb.
Highlights of the trip for the 27 WHS marketing students and their chaperones included a tour of the Omaha World Herald newspaper, a “Safari Challenge” at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and a party celebrating the 50th anniversary of the conference that included dancing, a climbing wall and inflatable amusements. Students also attended career and leadership workshops and listened to key-note speakers.
Adviser Brad Kennett said the event was a blast.
“Students were able to listen to a lot of great speakers and attend a lot of great workshops,” Kennett said. “The conferences are always a good mix between education and fun. Students can learn skills that they can use throughout their own future careers.”
